ACCOUNTANCY is the process by which financial information about a business is recorded, classified, summarised, interpreted and communicated. One of the programme’s greatest strengths is our use of external tutors. Professional accountants who are also recent graduates often return to lead tutorials, offering the opportunity to discuss issues and learn from their experience.
ECONOMICS you will learn how individuals and society make choices about how scarce resources are used, what products are produced and who gets to consume them. These choices depend on evaluating costs, benefits, risks and effects on others. Economics at Glasgow dates back to Adam Smith, who was a Professor at the University in the 18th century and is widely renowned as the father of modern economics.
Students on this joint honours take Economics 2A and 2B in year 2. In years 3 and 4, students take a combination of courses in Accounting and Finance and Economics.
