This course provides additional knowledge at honours degree level of the principles of equine performance and coaching. Equestrian coaching has moved on from a purely teaching role and has developed to encompass equestrian performance and training.This course can be studied full-time over three years or on a part-time basis over five to six years. In the first year you will study a range of theoretical and practical modules including Fitness and Performance Testing, Training and Management of the Performance Horse and Principles of Sports Coaching that set the foundation of the modules you will cover in years two and three. In year two, you will study modules based around current developments within the field of equine performance including recent technologies and findings. You will also cover both rider and equine psychology and take further modules in specialist sports coaching and equine sports injury and therapy.
