Major projects like roads, buildings, tunnels and flood protection are all designed, constructed and improved by civil engineers. There is huge investment planned in large infrastructure projects such as High Speed 2 in the coming years. Through studying this course you will develop a range of professional skills whilst looking at issues relating to civil engineering technology, technology of buildings, land surveying, transportation, health and safety and sustainability. Site visits and guest lecturers will connect you with industry. You will be given the opportunity to work towards EngTech or IEng professional status with the Engineering Council, through a regulatory body, such as the Institution of Civil Engineers. You will be offered the opportunity to visit various engineering companies throughout your studies and get a chance to do a series of industrial training courses, to gain vital first-hand experience of how engineering theory is put into practice. This course will enable you to seek employment within the civil engineering sector. Academic progression is available through a relevant (Top-Up) degree.
