If you are interested in specialising in the management of wildlife and the countryside, this programme can give you the relevant skills to work in the industry.
The programme includes work experience to give you hands-on knowledge and an insight into employment in the sector.
The programme is studied two days a week with a combination of classroom theory sessions and practical sessions in the field, giving experience of wildlife surveying and monitoring skills, and practical conservation techniques. The field sessions are supported by a range of taught sessions, tutorials and seminars; learning in a friendly environment with experts. The programme includes many visits to a wealth of diverse habitats in easy reach of the Bicton campus such as heathlands, woodlands and coastal habitats including sand dunes, estuaries, beaches and rocky shores. You will have the opportunity to carry out an individual piece of research which can be linked to one of the many organisations assisting with this programme. You can also take part in a week-long field course at a siteof conservation interest.
The programme has been designed in close consultation with the conservation industry, making it extremely relevant for those planning a career in conservation and countryside management. Input from staff from the conservation industry will enable you to keep abreast of the latest developments in the field.

– BSc (Hons) Environmental Resource Management final year at Newquay
– BSc (Hons) Environmental Science final year at Plymouth University
Possible Careers
– Senior Warden with Wildlife Trusts
– Countryside Officer with a Local Authority
– Countryside Ranger
– Positions with organisations such as the Environment Agency, Local Authorities and the National Trust
