University: http://www.newcastlecollege.co.uk/
This course will allow you to explore a broad range of techniques and processes that will enable you to develop your practice. You will have the opportunity to engage in studio practice modules that cover both traditional and contemporary practices such as drawing, painting, sculpture, installation and digital practice, alongside developing your theoretical and contextual awareness. The practice-based modules are accompanied by live briefs, site specific working and exhibition opportunities which give you valuable experiences as a professional practitioner. You will have access to a wide range of fully equipped specialist practical workshops which include wood, metal, ceramic, traditional and digital print, 3D digital design, lens based, domestic and industrial sewing. Alongside these you will have access to our dedicated drawing studio and large scale working spaces and your own studio space. The studio is central to our delivery and through workshops, seminars, lectures and crits you will develop an individual practice that is exciting, engaging, intellectual and personal to you. As part of our work-ready guarantee you will be exposed to live briefs and exhibition opportunities that will prepare you for your independent practice. You will complete modules in both traditional and contemporary practical skills, alongside building your professional skills. Work-based modules will give you the opportunity to develop your exhibition portfolio. Exhibitions this year have included a year-long exhibition in Alnwick Gardens, student curated exhibitions, and collaborative projects between students and independent artists. We have a dedicated work placement team to help you to secure placements in the area you wish to progress in. Recent placements include galleries such as BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art alongside opportunities internationally such as visiting artists and conference delegates. Graduating students can embark on a rich and varied career path ranging from practitioner, curator, arts management to community work and art education.
