This programme will enable you to study two European languages as well as the literature, artistic developments and theories associated with them. The programme aims to develop your engagement with the languages, histories, literatures, cultures and societies of countries across the world in which these languages are spoken. Through intense training in the target languages you will acquire near-native fluency. By enhancing your linguistic, literary, and critical faculties, the programme prepares you to contribute to a society in which an understanding of texts of all kinds is crucially important. Beyond the intensive study of the French language, French Studies at Edinburgh allows you to explore the exciting contribution of French speakers to world culture.
