COURSE OF Geography (Human)
Staffordshire University (Stoke on Trent)
University: https://www.staffs.ac.uk/
Geography is a dynamic and exciting subject, focusing on global issues such as climate change, social justice, poverty, water distribution, energy, biodiversity and pollution as well as the regional and local impacts of these drivers on us, our society and our culture. Our Human Geography degree is ideal for anyone who wants to learn about people, cities, communities and culture. It allows you to focus on the social side of the discipline right from the outset and does not require you to study any physical geography modules in your first year.
We explore the historic, economic, social, cultural and increasingly technological processes that shape our everyday lives. We discuss societal processes such as colonialism, capitalism and globalisation that have shaped and continue to shape human experiences. You will have the option to explore topics such as urban marginalisation, smart city initiatives, regeneration and transformation, as well as the wider impact of place and culture on our society. Geography sits within the Humanities grouping at Staffordshire University giving you opportunities to take final year options in sociology, history and international politics.
