COURSE OF Geography (with Mountain Leadership)
Staffordshire University (Stoke on Trent)
University: https://www.staffs.ac.uk/
Geography is a dynamic and exciting subject, focusing on global issues such as climate change, social justice, poverty, water distribution, energy, biodiversity, pollution as well as the regional and local impacts of these drivers on us, our society and our culture.
Our Geography with Mountain Leadership degree is unique. We give you the opportunity to study for a full BSc in Geography whilst combining this with supported learning in outdoor skills. If you enjoy camping, walking and outdoor activities of any type (such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award (DoE)) this course could really play to your strengths. Through an innovative programme of lectures and peer learning we train you to navigate over tough terrain, to lead others safely in the outdoors, to learn expedition planning, mapping, first aid and risk assessment. All this alongside developing your academic interest in the wider subject of Geography.
If you’re interested in establishing a career in outdoor education, teaching, consultancy, recreation management, outdoor pursuits, landscape assessment and management, or expedition leadership - this course could be for you. As well as gaining a full Honours degree in Geography, you’ll have the opportunity to train and qualify as a Mountain Training Association (MTA) accredited summer mountain leader. The accredited residential training and assessment is included in your tuition fees and provided by a MTA accredited mountain centre in North Wales.
