Health Psychology focuses on how psychological, social and biological factors combine to influence health and illness. A degree in health psychology offers a strong foundation to become a qualified health practitioner, and offers the potential to become a qualified Health Psychologist. The course focuses on the impact that psychology can have on the motivations, thoughts and feelings that underpinning human health related behaviours. The course will also develop expertise in promoting healthier lifestyles (e.g., by losing weight, increasing physical activity, and stopping smoking) by exploring ways in which we can facilitate positive health behaviour change underpinned by psychological interventions. A key aspect of this course is the opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience. Students will have the opportunity to gain health psychology experience on campus and will also have access to a range of exciting opportunities, including completion of specialist short courses, professional certificates and work placements.
