The History major covers a broad sweep of history from the end of Roman Britain through to present-day America. Six increasingly focused, period-specific courses, which encourage real intellectual depth, are accompanied by two survey courses and a course reflecting on the nature of the historical discipline, its practice, and its real-world application. The central aim of the Art History minor is to train you to look closely at works of art, architecture and design, and to acquire knowledge and understanding of their aesthetic, cultural and historical contexts.
