The History major covers a broad sweep of history from the end of Roman Britain through to present-day America. Six increasingly focused, period-specific courses, which encourage real intellectual depth, are accompanied by two survey courses and a course reflecting on the nature of the historical discipline, its practice, and its real-world application. The central aim of the English minor is to teach you the relevant conceptual tools, skills, and knowledge to read the texts we call literature, and all other uses of language, with greater acuity, penetration and pleasure, for the rest of your life.
