The History major covers a broad sweep of history from the end of Roman Britain through to present-day America. Six increasingly focused, period-specific courses, which encourage real intellectual depth, are accompanied by two survey courses and a course reflecting on the nature of the historical discipline, its practice, and its real-world application. The central of the Philosophy minor is to bring clarity and rigour to students’ thinking and to advance their understanding of, and ability to engage with, central philosophical questions, arguments, theories, and texts.
