Nutrition science is an increasingly important subject as a driver for the maintenance and promotion of health and wellbeing and sports performance. Working at an individual or community level a nutritionist may apply their knowledge in a wide variety of fields which include public health, sports nutrition, the food industry and product development. With a focus on science, human behaviour and the nutrition industry, you will learn the fundamentals of nutrition and how food choices influence health, wellbeing and performance at an individual or population level. This course has been developed in line with Association for Nutrition guidelines and we anticipate that the degree will be accredited by the AfN by the time the first cohort graduate. Accreditation will mean that all graduates of this course will be eligible to apply directly to the Association for Nutrition to become a Registered Associate Nutritionist. As graduates you are able to apply to become an Associate Nutritionist and may go on to work in the food industry, product development or marketing, retail, the NHS, nutrition research, Children’s Food Trust, and British Nutrition Foundation as nutritionists and health advisors. You will have the opportunity to diversify into many different areas including nutrition for athletes, developing food and nutrition policy; food product development; researching nutritional approaches to preventing, managing or treating disease; or training community workers to support people to develop cooking skills.
