This unique programme is ideal if you would like to develop the specialised skills and knowledge needed to prepare you for entry and future careers in the Police Service, Military Police, the Criminal Justice System or private or commercial security services. The programme provides you with academic understanding and practical experience of the nature of policing together with in-depth analysis of the conflicts of a modern day society. This programme will consist of a mixture of theory and practical work-related modules.These include Criminology, Police Policy & Society, Psychology and Crime Scene Management & Forensic Evidence. You will also develop work-related skills through a professional development module and undertake an independent research module which will enable you to further develop your knowledge and understanding of the Police Volunteer Programme or undertake other voluntary work in order to benefit from work-based and work related learning opportunities.
You will be offered the opportunity to further develop your fitness levels through participation in various sporting activities. In addition, opportunities exist for you to engage in community based work programmes through joining the Special Constabulary, the Police Volunteer Programme or other community volunteer work. This foundation degree is delivered by police professionals together with qualified college lecturers who have relevant vocational and academic experience.
