Sociology is the systematic study of people and the causes and consequences of their individual and collective beliefs, practices, habits and behaviour that bind people into social relationships and groups. Sociologists show that while social life is complex, it is patterned: thus it is comprehensible and can be explained. It is a subject for individuals interested in social issues and who want to help make the world a better place.
