COURSE OF Urban Green Space Management

Royal Agricultural University (Cirencester)
University: http://www.rau.ac.uk/
Urban landscapes have been traditionally been managed for the general public in the form of parks, community gardens, city farms and zoos, outdoor sports and play areas, cemeteries, botanical and ornamental gardens, natural and semi natural habitats (including waste land) but urban landscapes also include green spaces associated with public and private buildings such as hospitals, museums, canals, transport infrastructure and schools. There is a growing demand for urban landscapes to ‘fill the gaps in green infrastructure to incorporate into buildings and to explore how the grey infrastructure of our streets and public realm could be greened.’ As never before green spaces are not just about plants. The need to diversify and provide alternative incomes means that urban estate and green space management skills are needed as never before to capitalise and make best use of potential alternative income opportunities and savings.
